A Government-led Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) under the Global Compact on Refugees was instituted in line with the New York Declaration on Refugees and Migrants with the view to ensuring a more coordinated, harmonized and comprehensive refugee response within the humanitarian, development and peace nexus.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development is a member of the CRRF-Uganda Steering Group and is tasked to formulate interventions that when supported, would provide significant contribution to refugee and host communities, and ease pressure on the environment through cleaner energy activities.
In line with that, the Ministry has developed a Sustainable Energy Response Plan (SERP) for Refugees and Host Communities with the overall objective to attaining universal access to affordable, reliable, and clean energy for socio-economic transformation in an environmentally sustainable manner in refugee settlements and host communities in Uganda. This process involved a comprehensive situational analysis with extensive stakeholder consultations held across 12 refugee-hosting districts.
The purpose of this communication is to invite you as a key stakeholder to the launch of the Sustainable Energy Response Plan for Refugees and Host Communities on Thursday 25th August 2022 at the Kampala Serena Hotel, Kampala starting at 9am.
